Worcester, MA — The Worcester Regional Transit Authority (WRTA) in partnership with its operating contractor, Central Mass Transit Management (CMTM) is putting the pedal to the metal in their search for individuals who want to build a career while making a difference in the Greater Worcester Community.

WRTA bus/van drivers, mechanics & customer service representatives play a vital role in connecting communities and positively impacting a person’s life while providing an essential service to Worcester area residents and visitors.

Applicants who are interested in serving our city and surrounding communities, seek full-time employment, and possess excellent customer service skills are encouraged to apply!

To apply for a bus/van driver position, candidates must be 21 years of age; have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record; be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays; and be able to pass a drug and alcohol test, per Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) regulations.

A Commercial Drivers License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements is preferred for bus drivers, but not required as the organization provides training for individuals to achieve the CDL license.

The starting hourly wage for new, full-time bus drivers is $22.11, top wage drivers are paid $34.00 per hour. Benefits include paid time off & overtime pay, health/dental insurance, life insurance/short term disability, Local 22 Amalgamated Transit Union, and pension package. The van driver hourly rate is $19.30. Successful candidates will be awarded their work schedule upon completion of the paid training class. Once an individual receives their schedule it will remain the same for the immediate future.

Customer service representatives must be 18 year of age and available to work Mondays – Fridays or Tuesdays – Saturdays 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with shift ending after schedule completion. Hourly rate is $18.00.

WRTA/CMTM is also seeking a Mechanic for third shift (11 p.m. – 7 a.m.) with Wednesday and Thursday nights off. The starting wage is approximately $28.00 per hour with increases up to $38.00 per hour within two years. The job duties require performing preventative maintenance of all vehicles, including installations, repairs and tune-ups of engines, on hoists.
