Via-WRTA

Via-WRTA brings the convenience of a taxi with the efficiency of a bus.

Book a ride straight from your phone and Via will come to pick you up. Access parts of Shrewsbury, Northborough, and Westborough without ever needing a car.

Service hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Price: $2 per ride.

While all Via-WRTA vehicles are wheelchair-accessible, if you need any mobility assistance, or have trouble walking short distances, please indicate any needs within your Via-WRTA profile in the Via app. If you book rides over the phone, tell the Via customer service agent about your ride support needs as well.

How to create an account

  1. Download the Via WRTA app for iOS
  2. Download the Via WRTA app for Android
  3. Or search “Via WRTA” in the App or Google Play store and tap the download icon.
  4. Open the app, press Get Started. On the next screen, click “Don’t have an account yet?”
  5. Fill out your personal information which will include your name, email address, and phone number.
  6. Allow Via to use your location and to send you ride notifications. This will make your ride experience easier.
  7. Finally, enter payment information.

How to book a ride

  1. Enter your pickup address and press Set Pickup. Hit the + sign if you want to bring extra passengers along!
  2. Enter your dropoff address and press Set Dropoff.
  3. Choose the trip option that’s best for you, then tap Book Ride.
  4. Meet your driver: Follow the dotted line in the app to get to your exact pickup location, which may be a short walk.

Rides can also be booked by calling Via Customer Service at 508.388.6620.

We’ll display your driver’s name, vehicle model, and license plate info to help you locate your ride.

Changes coming to Via-WRTA, July 1, 2025.

  • All vehicles will be wheelchair accessible.
  • Downtown and southern portions of Northborough are now in the service zone
  • Route 9 and areas south in Shrewsbury, including Edgemere Crossing/Market Basket are now in the service zone
  • Pick-up and drop-off locations will be available at Shrewsbury Town Hall, Senior Center, and Public Library
  • New pick-up and drop-off location at the Northborough Senior Center
  • New pick-up and drop-off location at the Solomon Pond Mall, and Southborough MBTA Station to connect with the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority.
