A NEW NORTHWEST FLEX ROUTE WILL BE IMPLEMENTED to replace portions of Route 9 and Route 21.
Route 3: The NEW Route 3 will terminate at Worcester State College instead of Mill Pond Apartments. (In earlier versions of proposed eliminations, Route 3 was scheduled for complete elimination) Route 3 will be interlined with the NEW Route 15.
Route 4: The NEW Route 4 will be extended through Brosnihan Square to Millbury St., to the McKeon Rd. Extension and then follow the current route of Route 11. (Route 4 will terminate at Greenwood St. and Route 20, and it will not service Upland St., Spofford St., and Autumn Woods Apts.). The NEW Route 4 will be interlined with additional trips (TBA) on Route 30 which should help with that route’s crowding. The remainder of the Route 30 trips will continue to be interlined with Route 6.
Route 10: This route will be merged with the NEW Route 25. Service to College St., Dutton St., Davenport St., Tennyson St., Epworth St. and Maplewood Heights Apts. will be eliminated.
Route 15: The NEW Route 15 will continue down Hamilton St. to Lake Avenue and then travel to UMASS Medical Center via Belmont St. after passing through Lincoln Park Towers. Service on Plantation St. (old Route 15), along with service on Coburn Avenue between Hamilton St. and Belmont St. on the (old Route 18), will be eliminated. This NEW Route 15 will be interlined with the NEW Route 3.
Route 18: This route will be merged with the NEW Route 15. Service on Coburn Avenue between Hamilton St. and Belmont St. will be eliminated.
Route 25: The NEW Route 25 will continue to serve Canterbury St. but will turn left on Cambridge St., right on McKeon Rd., right on Riverside St. and left on Southbridge St. to the Auburn Mall. Service on Cambridge St. to Webster Square, Freemont St., Webster St., Boyce St. (Worcester and Auburn), and Sword St. (Auburn) will be eliminated.
Route 30: Certain Route 30 trips (TBA) will be interlined with the NEW Route 4; the balance of Route 30 trips will continue to be interlined with Route 6.
Elder Shopper Trips: Elder Shopper trips will be reduced from six daily to three daily trips.
School Extras: Those School Extras will be eliminated.
Route Adjustments: To accomplish the above mentioned changes, minor time adjustments will be made to Routes 2, 3, 5, 14, 15, 22, and 30.
Details of these proposed changes are available for viewing at the WRTA office at 287 Grove Street, Worcester, and the Customer Service Center at 317 Main Street, Worcester.
